Ticket stub, SLAYER Grugahalle, Essen, Germany, April 24th 1987. Reign in Pain European tour!

This ticket is an original piece of metal memorabilia. It is framed in a magnetic display. The photos show some reflection. Sorry about that, ladies and gents!

Of the ‘Big 4’ thrash metal bands, Slayer is the one I know the least. I don’t know why really, it is probably a coincidence. Cause I gotta tell you, when I put on ‘Reign in blood’ today, 27 years on, and hear the drizzle and thunder of ‘Raining blood’ I can understand what the fuzz is all about!

The album ‘Reign in blood’ itself was Slayers third album, and was released just a week after the death of Metallica bassist Cliff Burton. In many ways this week of 1986 produced the low- and high points of thrash metal, which is quite bizarre when you think of it. The album is regarded one of the peaks in metal history, and will forever secure Slayer their place in thrash metal heaven (or do metallers prefer hell? I am not sure how that stuff work, LOL!)

Show info: The ticket is for the Essen, Germany show on April 24th, 1987. You gotta remember, this was early in Slayers career, and ‘Reign in blood’ was their first record on a major label (Def Jam, Rick Rubin). This means they went bigger, more expensive and bloodier on this tour 🙂 . The european leg of the tour was with fellow californians ‘Malice’ as support act, and Essen was their first stop in Germany.

Ticket info: Another Shooter and Klein ticket, I have shown you 2 of those earlier; . This is a big ticket, approx 7 x 14 cm. The stub is removed, since it was actually used at the show, but it’s in VERY good condition when you consider the fact it was actually in the concert venue that night 26 years ago! It was bought from the concert goer himself in 2012.

What is it worth?: This ticket is really great for display. As a collectible it’s basically for fans only since this is recent metal history, so I’d say somewhere between 20-50 USD?

Venue info and tour poster: No gig-poster found. If you have a photo of it, give me a hint! Grugahalle in Essen, Germany, indoor arena, concert capasity 7 800.
